I feel like a dormouse coming out of hibernation. Apart from slipping my way across the countryside for muddy daily dog walks, I have hunkered down in front of the fire with various sewing projects and an enormous amount of telly.
New rugs are coming in and I have a particularly good collection of the beautiful kilims at the moment. These are the nearest thing I stock to ‘flying carpets’. They are incredibly popular and fly off the website or out of the Antique & Interiors Centre in Long Melford where you will find them on display. The colours are great, very “on trend” and the prices make them affordable. I feel a room transformation coming on!
New Persian Rug Stock
I have a new shipment of fabulous tradition Persian rugs, carpets and runners on their way, but I watch the news closely as events in Iran reveal themselves. My heart goes out to all the wonderful Iranian people I have met in the rug & carpet trade. We are united by our love of these extraordinary textiles. Talented craft people using their artistic skills to earn a living. Nothing complicated or political, just art.
The sentiment on this rug is ”This too shall pass”, a timeless ancient adage reminding that all moments—both good and bad—are temporary. Often attributed to Persian Sufi poets, it conveys comfort during adversity and humility during success. It emphasizes the impermanence of life, urging patience.
