It’s not long to go now until The Rug Festival & Sale in my beautiful garden in Bildeston. 1st to the 10th May.
The road signs have gone up, the posters are appearing in village shops and I have a team of students pushing flyers through doors. Social media is all a buzz with information, I have attached my poster artwork if you would like to forward and share the information with friends and family.
The tents have started to go up, and the yurt is getting dressed for the occasion with its decorative linings. Nicola’s cafe is looking a little sad but once her delicious cake and coffee machine arrive it will be transformed into a joyful garden café.
Our beautiful large Indian wedding Marquee has just been raised and gives me the opportunity to display a stack of large ‘oversize’ carpets for you to stand back from and imagine in your homes so come prepared with minimum and maximum measurement (the ideal is often difficult!), fabric swatches, paint charts and photos of the room. However, if visualising is impossible, we do offer a try at home service.
I’m very excited to let you know that Gainsborough Silk Weaving company will be joining us.
Established in 1903 by Reginald Warner in Sudbury Suffolk Gainsborough Silk Weaving Company has an international reputation for high quality Damasks, tapestries and velvets.
Liberty, Henry Ford and William Morris & Co were among their significant customers in the early years. Later they produced fabric for Cunard and White Star Shipping lines, and a custom baroque was woven to decorate the Titanic’s 1st class dining room.
Since 1981 Gainsborough are proud to have held a Royal Warrant for their walling, curtain and upholstery services for both royal places and carriages.
In more recent years their fabrics can be seen in film and TV screens such as ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ and ‘Downton Abbey’, and they have worked with fashion designers including Giles Deacon, Christopher Kane and Zandra Rhodes.
In our display will be beautiful fabric from their store. These will be remnants, end of lines, over orders and slight mismatches offered to you at clearance prices. An opportunity not to be missed ….I think.
